Looking for Alaska is one of my
all time favorite books. It is written by John Green, was
published in March 2005, and won a Michael L. Printz award in 2006
from the American Library. Looking for Alaska was
the second John Green-book I read, and that made me love him even
more. I think that Looking for Alaska
is a great book, it´s easy to read, and there´s no difficult
language (almost).
Looking for Alaska
is about a boy, Miles Halter,
who is starting a boardingschool, Culver Creek
Preparatory High School in
Alabama. At the Culver
Creek Preparatory he meets a lot
of new people, and he meets a girl which he later falls for. Her
name is Alaska. One of his new friends at
Culver insists on giving him a nickname,
Pudge, which is ironic because Miles is tall and slender. Alaska
is a wild, moody and unpredictable girl who is able to catch anyone's
heart, including Miles'.
I
think the book is a really exciting book to read. The writer creates a
lot of excitement when he labels the chapters like “159 days
before” “59 days before” “2 days before” etc. I think that this encourages the reader to read on more. The book is one of those books that you cannot put down, you have to keep on reading till the end.
I'm actually reading this book at the moment, and I totally agree with you. (Unfortunately) I have passed the "days before" chapters, but I'm really looking forward to the end of it. It's so exciting!
ReplyDeleteRead it in a few days, staying up all night, just couldn't stop. Have to ask you how did you feel about what happened inbetween "before" and "after"!
ReplyDeleteIt was heartbreaking!
DeleteI have also read this book and I loved it from the start and to the end! I feel the same as you do, and I just couldn't stop reading it!
